Gibson in talks to renew contract with retailer
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Gibson Greetings Inc. of Amberley Village is in talks with one of its retail clients to renew a contract that can be worth 4 percent to 5 percent of its annual sales.
James Wilson, executive vice president of Gibson, confirmed Wednesday that the card maker's contract with Giant Eagle grocery stores is up for renewal. But he denied rumors that the Pittsburgh company has already canceled the contract.
We're in negotiations with them, he said. We have not been finally notified by them that we lost it.
Sources at Giant Eagle could not be reached Wednesday.
Mr. Wilson characterized the contract as worth millions of dollars. Still, he said the retail agreement is not considered material.
Material contracts, such as with Winn-Dixie, are worth more than $50 million, Mr. Wilson said.
1998 sales were about $408 million.
