LEXINGTON, Ky. Chris Lipsett and Eric Landry each had two goals as the Kentucky Thoroughblades topped the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks 4-3 Saturday at Rupp Arena.
Lipsett, one of the top rookies in the AHL, also had two assists for the Mid-Atlantic Division-leading Thoroughblades, who snapped a six-game winless streak against Cincinnati.
Philippe Audet had a goal and an assist for Cincinnati, which ended a four-game road trip (1-3-0-0). Audet, a Detroit Red Wings prospect, has scored eight goals and nine assists for 17 points over the last 15 games.
Miika Kiprusoff stopped 40 shots for Kentucky to earn the victory. Gregg Naumenko had 36 saves for Cincinnati.
PAYNE JOINS DUCKS: The Mighty Ducks announced Saturday they have signed left wing Jason Payne to a pro tryout contract.
Payne, 24, had been playing for the Dayton Bombers of the East Coast Hockey League where he had four goals and two assists for six points with a team-leading 211 penalty minutes in 26 games.
