McAuley rallies to top No. 2 Mercy

The Cincinnati Enquirer

        Lisa Kampschmidt scored nine of her game-high 13 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday to lead McAuley to a 51-47 upset of No.2 Mercy.

        Mercy scored the first eight points of the second half to stretch its lead to 28-18. From there, McAuley rallied as the quarter ended with Amanda Hoffman hitting a 3-pointer to cut Mercy's lead to 32-30.

        McAuley trailed by two with 3:30 to go when Kampschmidt hit a basket, was fouled and converted the free throw to give the Mohawks the lead for good.

        Freshman Lauren Gruber led Anderson with a career-high 22 points.

        The Eagles led 25-12 at halftime, but Hamilton took a 33-32 lead with 4:40 left. Ashley Richmond had 12 points and eight rebounds for Milford.
