TRISTATE MARKET SPOTLIGHT


Owners of P&G shares smiling

        Shares of Procter & Gamble Co. gained $4.75, or 4.6 percent, to close Thursday at $107.88.

        Stock in the Cincinnati-based consumer products giant traded as high as $109.43 3/4 Thursday.

        P&G, the Tristate's largest employer, was raised to “strong buy” from “accumulate” by analyst Constance M. Maneaty at Prudential Securities. She expects the stock to reach $123 within a year.

        More than 3.26 million shares changed hands Thursday, compared with the 13-week average daily trading volume of nearly 2.04 million.
