Judge Black joins Supreme Court race
The Associated Press
Timothy S. Black, a Hamilton County Municipal Court judge, filed Thursday as a candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court.
Judge Black, 46, made an unsuccessful run for a Hamilton County judgeship in 1991 as a GOP candidate in the staunchly Republican county, then switched to the Democratic Party and won election to the municipal court in 1993.
Judge Black said he has experience as a trial judge and was one of 40 state judges trained by the Ohio Supreme Court to teach other jurists.
Two of the seven seats on the Ohio Supreme Court are up for election this year. Judge Black is running for the seat occupied by Justice Deborah Cook, a Republican running for re-election. The primary election is March 7 to determine the candidates for the November election.
