No. 1 Mason gets stiff test from Harrison

The Cincinnati Enquirer

        Mason, ranked No. 1 in The Enquirer's coaches poll, made 8-of-10 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off a tough Harrison team 49-41 in girls basketball action Thursday night.

        Harrison used a 3-2 zone defense to frustrate Mason in the second half. The Wildcats held Michelle Munoz to four points in the second half.

        Harrison had a chance to take the lead with five minutes remaining, but missed two free throws. The Comets opened a small lead and sealed the game from the foul line.

        • St. Ursula 56, Ursuline 44 — Senior Gretchen Menke scored eight points in the third quarter for St. Ursula. The Bulldogs went on a 20-8 run in the quarter.

        Mimi Mahon sank five free throws in the fourth quarter and Carmen Hogel added four.

        With the victory St. Ursula improved to 9-2. Ursuline fell to 10-2.

        The Warriors built a 39-26 halftime lead and led 58-43 after three quarters, but Norwood scored 27 points in the final quarter to make it a close game.

        Angela Prosperi and Lindsey Hicks scored 22 points each for Lebanon. Norwood's Melissa Davis led all scorers with 31.
