Moeller wrestlers nationally ranked
BY DAVE SCHUTTE
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Victories over three nationally ranked teams at the Virginia Duals last week have catapulted Moeller's wrestling team into the limelight.
Amateur Wrestling Magazine awarded coach Jeff Gaier's Crusaders the No. 8 ranking, the first Cincinnati team to earn national accolades.
It's neat for the kids to receive the recognition, Gaier said. It's hard for Cincinnati teams to get recognized statewide. It's nice to be in a position to compete.
Five Moeller wrestlers (Bobby Lyons, Joe Zinkan, Brian Zinkan, Nick Lukens and Kelly Cronin) went undefeated in their four matches at the Hampton, Va., tournament.
Moeller meets Lakewood St. Edward, the No. 1 nationally ranked team, in a dual meet Jan. 29 in Lakewood.
