UNION TOWNSHIP The governing board of Butler County's fastest growing township has added a new member but will keep the same president.
Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to re-elect Jose Alvarez as board president.
Newly elected trustee David Tacosik was unanimously elected vice president of the three-member board.
Mr. Alvarez said he appreciated the vote of confidence and looks forward to continuing the township's rapid growth.
I'm sure we'll carry on this year as we have done in the past and be very productive, he said.
Trustees also voted to continue holding their meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month this year.
They also agreed to hold a rare Saturday meeting on Jan. 22 at the township administration building at 9113 Cincinnati-Dayton Road to discuss budgeting, projects and proposed capital improvements.
The public meeting will run from 8 a.m. to noon.
Mr. Tacosik was voted to represent the trustees on the Union Township Community Improvement Corp. and Trustee Catherine Stoker was voted as the township's representative on the Butler County Emergency Management Agency.
In other action, Township Administrator David Gully praised the community for its quick and generous response in helping victims of the Dec. 23 fire at the Woodbridge on the Lake apartment complex. The blaze destroyed the homes of 55 families.
The community's response was overwhelming, said Mr. Gully.
He told trustees that each family received replacement clothes, household goods, furniture and close to $1,000 in cash thanks to donations from Union Township residents and thousands of others throughout the Tristate.
