Sledder killed in park accident
The Cincinnati Enquirer
A 22-year-old Amelia man was killed Thursday afternoon in a sledding accident at East Fork State Park in Clermont County.
Dale E. Pelle was the only fatality in the area related to a storm system that dropped 1 to 6 inches of snow on the Tristate Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Batavia Fire Capt. Tom Patt said Mr. Pelle was sledding in a prohibited area with two friends and his brother. He was in a concrete culvert off the rear side of the earthen dam that forms Harsha Lake.
There's about a 4-foot drop-off (in the culvert) and he went over it and hit his head, Capt. Patt said.
Mr. Pelle was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor flying with University Hospital's Air Care helicopter, which responded to the scene, the fire captain said.
