MIDDLETOWN A 12-year-old boy has been charged with sexual imposition in connection with a Jan. 19 incident at Mayfield Elementary School.
It is one of two investigations Middletown police hope to complete today involving Middletown/Monroe Schools.
Middletown Police Maj. Mike Bruck said police charged the boy after investigating a complaint from parents of two Mayfield girls. According to the parents, two 12-year-old boys made sexual statements and gestures toward the 10-year-old girls at school. The boy who was charged allegedly touched one girl's breast and the other girl's buttocks.
The boy, whom The Cincinnati Enquirer is not naming because heis a juvenile, was arraigned in Butler County Juvenile Court on Thursday on two counts of sexual imposition. The second charge stems from a similar incident off school grounds, Maj. Bruck said.
The boy has been released to his parents.
The second incident involves allegations that a teacher at Vail Middle School assaulted a child, also on Jan. 19.
In that incident, a desk was dropped or in some way ended up on the foot of the teacher, Maj. Bruck said. The teacher reportedly got angry, knocked a desk, and a seventh-grade boy fell over it. The teacher allegedly then pushed the student.
We are still looking into the matter, said Brenda Long, director of human resources for Middletown/Monroe Schools. The teacher has not been in the classroom this week. She declined to release the teacher's name.
