The Cincinnati Enquirer
Princeton High School student Ben Thornburg, 17, has won the 1999-2000 Original Student Composition Competition of the Music Educator's National Conference (MENC) for his piece, A Prayer.
His work, a vocal composition, will be performed at MENC's national convention in Washington, D.C. on March 9.
The high school senior, who lives in Sharonville, is hoping to take Princeton's A Cappella Choir to Washington to perform it. The choir made a tape for his entry.
Teachers recognized Mr. Thornburg's talent as a composer when he was a student at Robert E. Lucas Intermediate School. In addition to his musical gifts, Mr. Thornburg is editor of Princeton's school newspaper, Odin's Word, and is a thespian in the school's theater department.
