Bond at $150,000 for robbery suspect
A judge set bond Tuesday at $150,000 for a Norwood man accused of robbing three banks Jan. 15, two in Sycamore Township and one in Springfield Township.
Gary L. Connelly, 42, was arraigned in Hamilton County Municipal Court on three counts of aggravated robbery. He is to return to court Feb. 10 for a grand jury report.
A Hamilton County sheriff's spokesman said Mr. Connelly is accused of robbing the Firstar Bank at 10851 Montgomery Road at 9:30 a.m., and 20 minutes later, Bank One at 7269 Kenwood Road. He also is charged in a holdup at Northside Bank and Trust, 906 North Bend Road, the same day.
Spokesman Steve Barnett said an investigator was able to match a latent fingerprint obtained from the note used by the suspect in the robbery at the Firstar Bank with Mr. Connelly's fingerprint.
Woman injured in purse snatching
Hamilton County sheriff's investigators are searching for a man in a purse snatching at a Columbia Township grocery that injured a customer.
Deputies were called to the Kroger store at 7385 Wooster Road at 6:37 p.m. after a woman was robbed in the parking lot. The robber was able to elude deputies in a light-colored sedan.
Judy Hunt, 46, was knocked to the ground during the robbery, deputies said. She was taken to Mercy Hospital Anderson, where she was in good condition late Tuesday. Her address was not available.
Investigators said the robber approached Ms. Hunt in the parking lot and asked whether she needed help with her groceries. He then grabbed her purse, forced her to the ground and fled the area.
Deputies are looking for a black man, about 20 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing dark pants, a navy coat, gray skull cap and dark boots.

TROY, Ohio Attorneys for a woman who has been in jail for six weeks for refusing to tell her ex-husband the whereabouts of their two children asked a state appeals court Tuesday to free her.
A New York court awarded custody of the children a 10-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy to Linda Brennan's ex-husband, Richard Brennan of Tully, N.Y., during the couple's 1996 divorce.
When the children were not returned to him after a visit to his ex-wife's home this summer, she was charged with interfering with custody.
Linda Brennan, 36, of Casstown, Ohio, pleaded not guilty to the charge Dec. 15, and the next day stood silent when a Miami County Municipal Court judge asked her where the children were. She was cited for contempt and jailed until she responds.
