Man, girl arrested after police chase

VERONA — Police arrested a 19-year-old Plant City, Ohio, man and a 14-year-old girl Wednesday afternoon after a car chase that ended in a residential yard off Brown Road.
David Curtis Caroppoli faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading police, endangering the welfare of a minor, unlawful transaction with a minor, receiving stolen property and leaving the scene of an accident. The juvenile, whose name was not released, faces charges of receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence.
Florence police officials responded to the Meijer store on Houston Road about 3 p.m. to investigate a report of two people passing stolen checks. When officers tried to stop Mr. Caroppoli and the juvenile, they sped onto Houston Road in a car stolen in Tennessee. The chase continued on southbound I-75 to the Verona exit at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Mr. Caroppoli finally drove into the yard.
