Fairfield will sing praises of its heroes
Nominations sought for honor
BY MICHAEL D. CLARK
The Cincinnati Enquirer
FAIRFIELD The unsung heroes of this Butler County community won't stay that way much longer.
City officials are seeking nominations for those residents whose volunteer efforts and contributions have helped improve the quality of life here.
The Millennium Honor Roll will honor those people, living or deceased, by including their name on a proposed honor wall of fame, said Erick Cook, Fairfield council member at-large.
Our forum isn't necessarily focusing on the high-profile people ... but also on volunteers that through their work have made this a better place to live and work, said Mr. Cook, who is a member of Fairfield's Millennium Committee, which created the new recognition program.
Plans and details concerning the proposed honor wall are still to be determined, he said.
The committee is soliciting nominations of present and past residents.
Our community heroes quietly go about the business of assisting young people, community members and organizations, he said.
Nominations should be in writing, 100 words or less, and should include information, with specific examples, on the nominee's contributions and activities.
Nominations should contain the nominee's name, address, birth date, service organization, community activities, years of residence, volunteer activities and other pertinent information.
Completed essays should be mailed no later than March 1 to Patsy Woods, c/o Fairfield City Building, 5350 Pleasant Ave., Fairfield, OH 45014. A second round of nominations will be requested later with a deadline of June 1.
For Millennium Honor Roll information, call 867-5383.
