Missing mom, ex-husband sought
Woman disappeared months ago
BY TOM O'NEILL
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Sharon Apgar last saw her family in Clermont County before she headed to Northern Kentucky, where she was possibly meeting her ex-husband.
That was more than two months ago.
She hasn't been seen since. Neither has her ex-husband, Mike George.
Clermont County and Kentucky state police continue to investigate the 32-year-old mother's missing person case and would like to talk with her ex-husband. But so far, investigators are stumped.
Her family plans a prayer vigil for Ms. Apgar at 7 p.m. Friday at the St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 5900 Buckwheat Road, Miami Township.
The goal is in the hopes that God will hear multiple prayers and return Shari to us, said her mother, Patty Nause of Newtonsville in northern Clermont County.
The family is offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to Ms. Apgar's whereabouts.
Clermont County Sheriff A.J. Tim Rodenberg said Tuesday the circumstances are troubling, but there is no physical evidence to indicate foul play or anything else.
We've not ID'd George as a suspect, he said. There are other possibilities.
He did, however, confirm that Ms. Apgar's family told investigators about their concerns. We've got a lot of information, but nothing along lines of threats on her life that can be confirmed.
Little hope left
Mrs. Nause, who has custody of Ms. Apgar's 16-year-old son, said she is convinced her daughter will not be returned alive.
She told me (during a November phone call) if I didn't hear from her in a week, to please contact the sheriff's de partment because she did fear for her life.
Mrs. Nause added: It was something I feared for a long time. ... We don't really have that hope that we're going to get Shari back. In my heart, I don't really believe she's still alive.
Wrong lead
Ms. Apgar last called her mother from a friend's home in Crescent Springs in late November. An anonymous caller told the Clermont County Sheriff's Office that Ms. Apgar was seen at a motel in Northern Kentucky, but police found that there was no motel in the area the caller described.
Ms. Apgar is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 100 pounds and has a burn scar on her right calf and another scar on her right wrist. She has blond hair and blue eyes.
Mr. George, 36, is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Clermont County Sheriff's Investigator Lori Saylor at (513) 732-7545.
