St. X whips Moeller to clinch title tie

        Steve Callahan scored eight of his game-high 12 points in the second quarter as St. Xavier routed Moeller 77-34 Friday night to clinch at least a tie with Elder for the GCL South title.

        St. Xavier outscored Moeller 21-3 in that second period.

        Moeller's Matt Sylvester, who scored 36 points Tuesday against Purcell Marian, was held scoreless in the first half and sat out the second half.

        All 14 St. Xavier players scored.

        Tom Luther paced Moeller with 10 points.

        • Lima Senior 94, Princeton 93 — Senior guard Dramayne Lyles banked a 30-foot desparation shot at the buzzer, giving Lima the dramatic victory before a crowd of approximately 3,800 at Lima.

        Princeton, ranked No.5 in the Enquirer's Division I coaches poll, had a 93-91 lead when Lima set up an inbounds play for Lyles' game-winning shot.

        Lyles scored 23 points to lead five Spartans in double figures.

        Erik Daniels scored a game-high 29 points for Princeton. Larry Brown added 22 points, and Curtis Cross had 19.

        Lima is ranked No.8 in this week's Associated Press Division I Ohio poll.

        The Vikings defeated Lima on December 7 in the season opener 56-47 at Princeton.
