Cincinnati girls basketball roundup


Batavia upsets No. 2 seed NCH

        The first upset of the girls sectional basketball tournament didn't come as a surprise.

        Batavia, which went a school-best 17-3 during the regular season, rallied behind Amber Bishop to win 52-42 over No.2 seeded North College Hill Monday in Division III play at Mason.

        Amber Bishop sank four free throws in the final minute and junior center Katie Swart added six points in the fourth quarter for the Bulldogs.

        The turning point came in the final 45 seconds of the second quarter. Tied at 16, Wilson sank a 3-pointer and Swart a 2-pointer, giving Batavia a five-point halftime lead.

        Batavia advances to the second round against Middletown Fenwick Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
