Prosperi steps up to lift Lebanon

        Angela Prosperi has played in the shadow of highly regarded Lindsey Hicks the past two seasons at Lebanon, but the senior center stole the limelight Wednesday at Milford High School.

        With Harrison's defense geared to stop Hicks (13 points), it was Prosperi who came through with 21 points, leading the Warriors to a 54-50 victory over the Wildcats in the Division I sectional.

        Prosperi scored 12 points in the second quarter and seven more in the third, giving Lebanon a 44-35 lead. Harrison rallied in the fourth quarter, sinking three 3-pointers to make it close. Lebanon advances to a second round game on Wednesday against Amelia.

        Baltimore, who had nine points in the second quarter, also pulled down 12 rebounds, had five steals and contributed six assists.

        Reading moves on to a second round game against Madeira Saturday (4:30 p.m.).

        • Mariemont 57, Finneytown 50, Division III sectional at Mason — Libby Brown's seven points during the final three minutes triggered a 14-7 run, enabling Mariemont to avenge two regular season losses to the Wildcats.

        Tied 43-43 with three minutes remaining, Mariemont went to a full court press, forcing four consecutive Wildcat turnovers that led to easy layups.

        Elizabeth Kauffmann led all scorers with 20 for Mariemont. The Warriors advance to a second round game on Saturday against No.1 seed Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.
