Cyclones 4, Long Beach 3
The Cincinnati Enquirer
LONG BEACH, California Cincinnati Cyclones left wing Gilbert Dionne had to wait five days and two games to collect his 100th goal with the club, but it turned out to be worth the wait.
Dionne's goal in the third period was the difference in a 4-3 win at Long Beach on Wednesday night. Dionne's 100th goal, and 23rd of the season, came on a Cyclones power play, as he deflected a shot from center Todd Simon.
Goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier shut the door on the Ice Dogs in the final period to secure the win.
Pelletier wound up with 27 saves.
The victory was the Cyclones' first-ever at Long Beach Arena in six tries. It also allowed Cincinnati to close its five-game road trip with a 3-2-0 record.
This was a tough trip, Cyclones Coach/GM Ron Smith said. We worked really hard tonight and we got rewarded.
