Backers of Banks promise support

Jack Rouse, chairman of the Riverfront Advisors Commission, a group that put together a sweeping development plan for the riverfront between the two new stadiums, pledged his group's support in the wake of cost overruns with Paul Brown Stadium.
Officials revealed Monday that the budget for the Bengals new stadium will have to be increased by between $35 million and $45 million.
Mr. Rouse's group still is searching for ways to pay for the development proposal called The Banks, which calls for building shops, restau rants and housing atop parking garages on the riverfront.
The county's possible cash-flow problems may mean looking for new funding sources, he said, but he thinks it can be done.
Mr. Rouse sent his letter to all three Hamilton County commissioners and members of Cincinnati City Council on Thursday, pledging his group will roll up our sleeves and work to find creative solutions.
No one likes cost overruns, he said, but they're a part of doing business.
Who's ever done a project that doesn't have overruns? Mr. Rouse asked. It's another bump in the road, but it doesn't mean the car falls apart.
We'll figure out a way to do it.
Bob Bedinghaus, president of the commission and the county's point man on stadium issues, said he is grateful for the support.
Having them as productive partners as we move forward is very important, Mr. Bedinghaus said. It's hard to say what impact (the overruns) will have on The Banks, because we're very much in a state of flux right now.
