Villa wins in OT

The Cincinnati Enquirer

        Villa Madonna's Lee Humphrey hit two free throws in the first minute of overtime to give Villa the lead in a 53-50 defeat of Dayton Thursday in girls basketball action.

        Krissi Pavel hit a 10-footer with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 46 and send it to overtime.

        It was the last girls game at the Viper Pit, Villa Madonna's home court since 1950. Next year Villa moves into a new gym.

        Amber Lundy added eight points and 15 rebounds, and Ashley Holland had nine points and 14 rebounds.

        • Bishop Brossart 79, St. Henry 37 — Katie Schwegmann and Emily Phillips each scored 20 points for Brossart. Schwegman added eight assists, and Phillips had 13 rebounds and shot 9-of-13 from the field.

        Brossart jumped to a 35-6 with 4:47 to go in the second quarter.

        • Newport 51, Holmes 48 Junior guard Erica Hallman hit two 3-pointers in the last minute to bring Holmes within three of Newport. Holmes tried to inbound the ball to Hallman with two seconds left but the pass was deflected.

        Newport senior guard Molly White had 17 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
