The Associated Press
Enquirer columnists Tim Sullivan and Paul Daugherty were honored Wednesday in the Associated Press Sports Editors 1999 contest.
Sullivan was in the top 10 in the column writing category for newspapers with circulations between 100,000 and 250,000. Daugherty won for his feature on former Xavier Musketeer Lenny Brown.
The Enquirer's John Erardi and John Byczkowski made the top 10 for their enterprise piece on major-league baseball ballparks, and the Enquirer sports staff was recognized in the top 10 for special sections for its baseball preview last spring.
This year for the first time, the APSE contest was broken into four circulation categories: under 40,000, 40,000-100,000, 100,000-250,000 and over 250,000.
