John McCain's snowballing campaign for the Republican presidential nomination comes to Cincinnati Saturday, where he will pitch for votes and sell some books.
By mid-week next week, the man Mr. McCain is chasing for the nomination Texas Gov. George W. Bush is also expected to make a campaign swing through Cincinnati.
U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine, the only high-profile Ohio GOP office-holder backing Mr. McCain, said Saturday's three-city Ohio visit is just the beginning of Mr. McCain's effort to win the March 7 Ohio primary.
We clearly start from behind in Ohio; we're the underdog, said Mr. DeWine, who will campaign with Mr. McCain. Now, we're on the move.
The Arizona senator's Straight Talk Express campaign bus will wheel into the Rookwood Pavilion in Norwood about 5 p.m. Saturday for a book-signing at Joseph-Beth Booksellers, the last stop on a three-city Ohio tour.
Mr. McCain will start the dayat Cleveland's West Side Market a king-sized version of Cincinnati's Findlay Market and then fly to Columbus for an open-to-the-public town meeting at St. John's Arena on the Ohio State University campus.
In Columbus, the candidate is expected to board the bus he used in the New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries and make the trip to Norwood, where he will sign copies of his best-selling book, Faith of My Fathers.
Megan Hall, a spokeswoman for the bookstore, said Joseph-Beth will start handing out line reservations for the book-signing at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Vice President Al Gore will campaign in Cleveland today for the Democratic nomination. Former New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley was in the Cleveland area earlier this month.
