Little Miami wins sectional crown

        Senior center Courtney Balser scored 22 points to become the school's all-time leading scorer in Little Miami's 61-38 victory over Kettering Alter in a Division II girls sectional championship basketball game Thursday at Springboro.

        Balser passed record-holder Matt Craig and now stands at 1,212 points for her career.

        After Little Miami took a 12-4 first-quarter lead, Balser scored 14 points in the second quarter, including three 3-pointers, to take Little Miami into halftime with a comfortable 36-16 lead. Balser also grabbed 15 rebounds.

        The victory gives Little Miami its second straight sectional title. The Panthers also completed an undefeated February with their eighth straight victory.

        Little Miami will play the winner of the Urbana-Chaminade game March 3 at Vandalia Butler High School.

        • Roger Bacon 56, Edgewood 35, Division II sectional at Springboro — The Spartans sank three 3-pointers in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 31-20 lead en route to the sectional cham pionship victory.

        Sarah Schaefer led Roger Bacon with 13 points. Julie Metz added 12.
