Bunning endorses Bush
BY PATRICK CROWLEY
The Cincinnati Enquirer
FORT WRIGHT Kentucky's U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning has joined fellow Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell in endorsing Texas Gov. George W. Bush for the Republican presidential nomination.
We have a golden opportunity this year to elect a president who will restore dignity and positive leadership in the White House, Mr. Bunning, a Southgate Republican, said Friday.
The candidate who can do that is clearly George W. Bush.
Mr. Bunning called Mr. Bush a proven leader who as governor implemented welfare-reform, education-reform and tax-reform policies.
As a candidate for president he has proposed policies that make sense, policies that allow the American taxpayers to keep more of their own money, policies that will continue our progress at balancing the budget and reducing the debt, and policies designed to strengthen education, Social Security and our national defense, Mr. Bunning said.
