Area swimmers win 5 state titles
St. Xavier 200 IM relay sets state record

CANTON After sweeping the three state diving championships on Thursday, Cincinnati athletes stole the spotlight at the state swimming championships on Friday.
There were 12 individual and three relay champions crowed, with five titles for the Cincinnati area.
St. Xavier's 200 individual medley relay team opened the meet by setting a state record of 1:31.22. It broke the mark of 1:32.47 set in 1999.
It was a great day for us, coach Jim Brower said. We set two state records, but the highlight was the four swimmers who finished in the top eight in the (200 individual) medley.
Dan Ketchum from Sycamore won a third consecutive 200 freestyle state title. St. Xavier junior Jayme Cramer was the best in the 100 butterfly.
Freshman Whitney Myers was one of three Ursuline swimmers to bring home the gold; she easily won the 200 freestyle in :48.60. The 200 individual medley belonged to Tami Ransom, Kelli Krallman emerged as the 100 butterfly state champion, rallying in the final 25 yards to pull it out.
