Cincinnati boys basketball roundup


McNicholas runs away from Goshen

        Paul Sheehy and Nat Dyment each hit a pair of 3-pointers to spark a big second quarter for McNicholas, and the Rockets went on to an 83-57 victory over Goshen in a Division II sectional at Anderson on Friday night.

        Sheehy scored all 16 of his points in the first half and Dyment scored 10 of his 12 in the same quarter.

        Roger Drake led Goshen with 25 points.

        McNicholas, seeded No.3, will play Roger Bacon at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Anderson. The teams split two regular-season games.

        • Roger Bacon 68, New Richmond 34, Division II sectional at Anderson High School — Sophomore guards Josh Housefeld and Nate Wyrick each scored in double figures and the Spartans broke the game open by outscoring New Richmond 43-15 in the second and third quarters.

        Housefeld scored 16 points and Wyrick had 11 for Roger Bacon.

        Roger Bacon will play McNicholas at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

        • Woodward 76, Turpin 68, Division II sectional at Anderson H.S. — The Bulldogs duo of Willie Boyce and Alex Armstrong helped them advance to a matchup with Loveland at 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

        Boyce scored a game-high 28 points for Woodward and Armstrong scored 24. Armstrong had nine fourth-quarter points and Boyce eight. Armstrong was a clutch seven-of-eight from the foul line in the quarter.

        Senior center Pat Cary led Turpin with 26 points.
