LEXINGTON, Ky. Eric Landry scored late in the first period and Yevgeni Nabokov made the goal stand as the Kentucky Thoroughblades blanked the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks 1-0 Friday night at Rupp Arena.
Nabokov made 31 saves as he improved his record to 11-2-1 with three shutouts in 15 career appearances against Cincinnati. The Ducks' nemesis was making his first start of the season for Kentucky after being assigned Thursday by the NHL San Jose Sharks for conditioning.
Landry's goal, his 29th of the season, came at the 19:26 mark of the opening period.
Ryan Hoople stopped 30 shots for the Ducks, who lost their third straight game after winning five in a row. Bob Wren had a point streak snapped at six games as the Ducks were held scoreless for the fifth time.
With the loss Cincinnati now trails Louisville by 10 points for the fourth and final playoff berth in the Mid-Atlantic Division with five games in hand. The Ducks have 22 games remaining, including four head-to-head meetings with Louisville.
