Stuff 118, Las Vegas 104

BY PETE HOLTERMANN
Enquirer contributor

Las Vegas just brings out the scoring in the Cincinnati Stuff.

Friday night, the trend continued as the Stuff rolled to a 118-104 win over Las Vegas at the Firstar Center. It was the first win for Cincinnati over the Silver Bandits and marked the seventh straight triple-digit scoring effort for the Stuff.

In three games against Las Vegas this season, the Stuff have scored an average of 114.3 points, compared to 96.7 ppg against the rest of the IBL.

“We really like the up-and-down tempo and Las Vegas is a team that likes to run the ball,” Stuff guard Moo Moo Blakney said.

Cincinnati pulled away early as it hit 70 percent of its field goal attempts in the first quarter to take a 31-17 lead.

Cincinnati's defense also was stingy early as it limited the Silver Bandits to 1-of-14 shooting through the opening period.

“Our defense is what gets us going,” Cincinnati forward Alex Sanders said. “When we play good defense, we win 95 percent of the time.”

Sanders scored 15 of Cincinnati's first 17 points in the third quarter as he led the Stuff with 25 points, stretching his string of double figure games to 26.

Six Stuff players scored in double figures as they hit 53.5 percent from the field. Wayne Turner and Tremaine Fowlkes scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, for Cincinnati. Blakney recorded his third double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 assists.

INJURY UPDATE: Chris Kingsbury missed his second straight game with Achilles tendinitis. Courtney James sat out with the flu. Neither will play at Trenton tonight.
