EVANSVILLE, Ind. Senior guard Brandon Hughes scored 20 points Saturday night as Southern Indiana defeated Northern Kentucky University 75-60.
Hughes also had five assists as USI (22-4), ranked No.13 nationally in the latest Division II poll, beat the 19th-ranked Norse.
USI clinched second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 17-3 record.
NKU (24-5 overall, 16-4 GLVC) was led by sophomore forward Craig Sanders' 11 points.
NKU will be the No.3 seed in the GLVC Tournament and play the No.6 seed either IPFW or Bellarmine March 2 at Roberts Stadium in Evansville.
Southern Indiana entered Saturday ranked No.1 in the Great Lakes Region poll, and NKU was No.3.
The top six teams in the Great Lakes Region poll will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. Pairings for the NCAA tournament will be announced March 5.
