Warren Co. commissioner

BY CINDI ANDREWS
The Cincinnati Enquirer

LEBANON — A Hamilton Township trustee is making his second try for Warren County commissioner on the grounds that the current board shows favoritism toward municipalities.

“They tend to give more to the cities than the townships,” said challenger Clyde Baston.

But incumbent Commissioner Larry Crisenbery, a Turtlecreek Township trustee for 24 years, said the board is bound by state law to approve cities' annexations if they meet all the criteria.

The two Republicans are competing in the March primary for a four-year term on the three-person board; no Democrats filed for the seat.

If re-elected, Mr. Crisenbery said, his goal for the next four years would be to preserve green space in the county.

Also, he said that as commissioner he has helped reduce the inside millage tax — the county's share of the property tax — saving taxpayers $23 million in three years.

The 62-year-old Lebanon resident is in his eighth year as a commissioner.

Mr. Baston, a trustee for 18 years, said he helped Hamilton Township take its fire and police departments from part time to full time.
