Quick start keys Holmes win

The Cincinnati Enquirer

        Senior guard Marco Hallman scored nine in the first quarter to lead Holmes to a 66-46 victory over Ludlow Tuesday in a 35th District tournament game at Holy Cross.

        The Bulldogs, ranked second in the Enquirer's coaches poll, used a pressing defense to push the lead to 32-17 by halftime and were never challenged in the second half. Holmes had 15 steals, six by Al Huff.

        Hallman led all scorers with 20 points, and Jerry Weaver added 15.

        Holmes will face the winner of Holy Cross/Covington Catholic at 6:15p.m. Friday.

        • Highlands 83, Dayton 30, 36th District at Newport — Gino Guidugli scored 20 of his 25 points in the first half has Highlands built a 37-point lead and never looked back.

        Derrick Moeves and Ross Neltner each added 11 points for the Bluebirds. Jason Wiseman paced Dayton with 10 points and eight rebounds.
