NKU men lose in conference tourney


Women advance to finals

        EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Freshman forward Diond're Givens came off the bench and scored 15 points as Southern Indiana defeated Northern Kentucky 100-89 in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament at Roberts Stadium Friday night.

        Southern Indiana (24-4), ranked No.8 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, shot 63.2 percent from the field. Senior guard Brandun Hughes had 16 points and four assists for USI.

        Junior guard Craig Conley led No.22 NKU (25-6) with 20 points.

NKU Women 73, Bellarmine 55
        EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Sophomore forward Michelle Cottrell scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds Friday as Northern Kentucky defeated Bellarmine 73-55 in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.

        NKU, ranked No.2 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, extended its winning streak to 18 consecutive games.

        NKU will play Indianapolis in the championship at 5 p.m. today.
