Beavercreek stops Princeton
District title 7th straight for Beavers
BY DAVE SCHUTTE
The Cincinnati Enquirer
WILMINGTON Beavercreek shot 48 percent from the floor (22-of-46) Saturday at Wilmington College on the way to a 61-38 victory over Princeton and its seventh consecutive Division I girls basketball district championship.
Beavercreek advances to the regional semifinals against Mount Notre Dame at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wright State University.
They shot the ball so well (13-for-24) in the first half, Princeton coach Jerry Stein said of Beavercreek. They also played great defense, but we only had one turnover against their press.
Point guard Tiffany Weber was the difference for Beavercreek in the first half, with 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals.
I'm surprised that Princeton came out in a 2-3 zone rather than a man-to-man defense, Beavercreek coach Ed Zink said. And, I can't believe they didn't press us.
Beavercreek put the game away early. Trailing 7-5 midway through the first quarter, the Beavers scored 15 unanswered points into the second quarter and led 35-16 at halftime.
