Cold shooting dooms Mercy
Bobcats lose to Trotwood

WILMINGTON Shooting only 34.6 from the field and 1-of-13 from 3-point range, the Mercy Bobcats lost to the Trotwood Madison Rams 51-42 in a Division I district championship game at Wilmington College on Saturday.
Madison advances to the Division I Columbus regional tournament Tuesday at the Columbus Fairgrounds Coliseum.
This was our worst shoot ing night of the season, Mercy coach Mary Jo Huismann said. This is a senior team and I didn't expect this. We were getting the open shots but they didn't fall.
Junior forward Tiffanie Gutherie scored 14 first-half points for the Rams. Mercy made only 5-of-27 shots in the first half.
Mercy's shooting woes continued into the third quarter.
We finally calmed down in the fourth quarter and played well, Huismann said. We were intimidated early and lost our composure. But if we had banged a few of those shots down early, it could have been different.
Mercy rallied behind Steph Woody, Nicole Barnes and Angie Zeuch during the final quarter, cutting the deficit to 43-40 with 2:20 remaining.
But Trotwood's Darla Finley sank a free throw and Latasha Pearson followed with a 3-point play, catapulting the Rams into 47-40 lead.
