Mighty Ducks offer hockey classes
Cincinnati Mighty Ducks University, a class for fans that want to learn more about the game of hockey, will be in session Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the Gardens.
At Mighty Ducks University, students will join coaches and players in a classroom setting where they are instructed on the rules, regulations and strategies of hockey. Students will also study equipment, watch videos, receive a tour of the locker room and be tested on their trivia knowledge to complete the course and receive their diploma.
Ducks center Darryl Laplante, who spent part of this season with the NHL Detroit Red Wings, and goaltender Ryan Hoople will serve as professors. Classes are free.
Mighty Ducks University is the ABCs of hockey, Ducks vice president of communications Don Helbig said. You can watch hockey for the first time, and it looks like chaos out there on the ice. But when a fan attends this class, he or she will see a coach or player break down a video and explain what they are trying to do. A fan will realize they are not skating around out there hitting a puck. There is a rhyme and reason to it.
Fans interested in attend ing may sign up by calling (513) 351-3999 ext. 231.
