Ballots have variety of issues


School districts await key votes

        Highlights of the issues on area ballots:

        Butler County

        • Monroe voters will decide whether a new school district should be created by splitting the Middletown/Monroe district.

        • Lakota and Talawanda schools are asking for money to build schools.

        • Voters are being asked to change Union Township to West Chester Township.

        • Liberty Township, Fairfield and Monroe have police and fire levies.

        Clermont County

• Milford schools are seeking a bond issue for new school buildings.

        • Milford has a fire protection issue and New Richmond decides on ambulance service.

        Hamilton County

        • Deer Park, Madeira, Mariemont and Three Rivers schools face tax issues.

        • Voters face tax-increase requests for safety needs in Anderson Township and Golf Manor and replacement levies in Sycamore Township and Newtown.

        • Road issues are on the ballot in Mount Healthy and Colerain Township, where a citizens' referendum also has placed a zoning issue before voters to stop development of a Bigg's store.

        • North Bend has a life squad levy on the ballot.

        • In Lincoln Heights, voters are being asked to renew a tax levy and decide on several charter amendments.

        • In Montgomery, a charter amendment would allow City Council to conduct executive sessions as provided under guidelines of the state's open meetings statute for pending litigation, personnel issues, financial matters or real estate transactions.

        Warren County

        • Mason, Kings and Little Miami school districts have tax questions on the ballot.

        • Harlan and Wayne townships vote on fire levies.
