Florence signs off on Boone master plan
Fiscal court members had reservations

FLORENCE — Despite Boone Fiscal Court's decision to postpone the vote on the goals and objectives of the county's comprehensive plan this week, Florence City Council chose to adopt the document.
Council voted unanimously on first reading to adopt the plan approved by the county planning commission. The updated document, which guides land use in the county, includes stronger language than before.
Fiscal court members took issue with how the plan would guide changes to the rural, western portion of Boone County.
Florence council members said Tuesday night they were satisfied with the document the way it is.
City Council will have a second reading of the ordinance at its next regular meeting, March 28.
The fiscal court is scheduled to take the issue up again March 27.
