Judge raises bail in Internet prostitution case

A Forest Park man accused of running a prostitution ring from an Internet Web site went to jail Tuesday.

Robert T. Jones, 38, was sent to the Hamilton County Justice Center after a judge raised his bail from $15,000 to $150,000. At a hearing in Common Pleas Court, prosecutors told Judge Thomas Nurre that Mr. Jones was a risk to flee the country to Mexico.

Defense attorney H. Louis Sirkin said his client intends to fight the charges and would not leave the county. He said the prosecutor's accusations were based on rumors.

Mr. Jones is charged with 10 counts of promoting prostitution and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. If convicted, he faces up to 23 years in prison and the forfeiture of his property.
