Lincoln Heights could land Fergus

BY SARA J. BENNETT
The Cincinnati Enquirer

LINCOLN HEIGHTS — The village might soon get a new business in a new building.

The Fergus Cos. of Columbus has proposed building a one-story, 6,888-square-foot facility on the vacant northeast corner of Shepherd Lane and Mangham Drive.

It is expected to house an Advance Auto Parts retail store.

The new business could be a boon to Lincoln Heights, which has been striving both to attract new development and to improve the appearance of areas that serve as gateways to the community.

The corner of Shepherd and Mangham is near the Shepherd Lane interchange with I-75 at the southeast entrance to Lincoln Heights.

That proximity to the interstate is what attracted Fergus to the area, said Claude Audley, Lincoln Heights' economic development coordinator.

“It will help clean up that area, and it will help the image of the village in terms of the whole I-75 corridor,” Mr. Audley said.

The auto parts store plan has received approval from Lincoln Heights' planning commission, and it now awaits approval from village council.

Construction could begin this summer, Mr. Audley said.

The new store could create up to 10 jobs.

A study of the store's economic impact on the village shows it adding $378,840 worth of improvements to the area and tax income of $7,951 a year for the village.
