3 to receive NKU Lincoln Awards

        HIGHLAND HEIGHTS — Two Northern Kentucky residents and a Cincinnati man will be honored for their service to Greater Cincinnati with Northern Kentucky University's 2000 Lincoln Awards.

        Started in 1992, the Lincoln Awards honor residents who have had an influence on their community through citizenship and service to their community and profession.

        The winners are:

        • Judith Gibbons, vice president of community affairs at Lee Hecht Harrison.

        Ms. Gibbons has worked for the professional career management firm for nine years. The company consults with 1,700 companies.

        A graduate of the University of Florida, Ms. Gibbons has

        been recognized extensively for her leadership and service. Her contributions include working with the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Education Alliance of Northern Kentucky.

        Ms. Gibbons lives in Lakeside Park.

        • George Schaefer Jr., president and chief executive officer of Fifth Third Bancorp/Fifth Third Bank.

        He started with the company in 1971 as a management trainee. A graduate of the U.S. Military Acade my at West Point, Mr. Schaefer served in Vietnam.

        He received a master's in business administration from Xavier University in 1974. He lives in Cincinnati.

        • John W. Steinman, chairman of Deluxe Engraving, a graphic arts company that does business throughout North America.

        Mr. Steinman is a former president of Kids Helping Kids. He was a founder of the original Fort Thomas Library, now the Campbell County Library. He served in Korea.

        He also works with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati, the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati and the Dan Beard Boy Scout Council, among many other organizations.

        Mr. Steinman lives in Fort Thomas and is a graduate of Miami University.

        The awards will be presented April 18 at the Clarion Hotel Riverview in Covington. Tickets for the black-tie optional event are $65 a person or $650 for a table of 10. For information call the NKU Office of University Advancement at 572-5129.
