Mason Kiwanis plan golf outing at Kings Island

BY SUE KIESEWETTER

MASON — When the Mason Kiwanis held their first golf outing 16 years ago, the group netted more than $7,000 for scholarships.

Since then the Kiwanis' popular outing has grown so much that the 1999 event cleared $24,000, a scholarship foundation has been established, and $12,000 in awards are given every spring to teens in the boundaries of the Mason City Schools.

""This year we have a real challenge to keep up where we were last year and to continue to raise money for important projects,” said Dick Yost, chairman of the event.

The 17th Annual Golf Outing will be May 10 at the Golf Center at Paramount's Kings Island. Almost 300 golfers are expected to at the all-day event, which will include a prime rib dinner.

Thirty-six four-member teams will golf in the morning, and the same number will hit the course in the afternoon. The morning golfers will begin at 7:45, while the afternoon golfers begin their round at 1.

To register or sponsor a hole, contact Mr. Yost at 398-0911 or Tom Paffe at 932-3019.
