Domestic shooting kills 2
Police say man shot wife, self
The Cincinnati Enquirer
COLD SPRING A 61-year-old man shot and killed his wife and then himself inside their Campbell County residence Friday morning, police said.
James Tye and his wife, Wyeula, 63, died almost instantly, said Al Garnick, deputy coroner of the Campbell County Coroner's Office.
The Tyes' adult daughter, who was living with her parents, heard gunshots ring through the family's ranch-style Fox Run Road residence around 9:30 a.m. She ran to a neighbor's house and called 911.
Campbell County Police found the bodies in a hallway outside some bedrooms. Mrs. Tye had been shot in the chest. Campbell County Police had been to the house before because of domestic problems.
Detective Sgt. Barrett J. Champagne said the motive for Friday morning's murder-suicide remains unclear.
Mr. Garnick, who was at the scene, said there was no sign of struggle at the home and that it appeared as though someone had just finished breakfast.
He learned from police that they had visited the house before for domestic problems.
Things hadn't been going good for the family, he said. But, whatever happened I don't know.
Mr. Garnick did not talk to the Tyes' daughter.
While an investigation continues, the Tyes' neighbors are still recovering.
They were very nice people. This comes as a shock. That's all I've got to say, said one woman who didn't want to give her name.
