Mighty Ducks 2, Wilkes-Barre 1

The Cincinnati Enquirer

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON, Pa. — Maxim Balmochnykh and Frank Banham scored goals and Gregg Naumenko stopped 44 shots to lead the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks past the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 2-1 Friday night in the First Union Arena at Casey Plaza.

The Ducks snapped a four-game winless streak and finished an eight-game, 14-day AHL road trip with a 3-4-0-1 record.

“It's nice to end this trip on a winning note,” Ducks coach Moe Mantha said. “We had to scratch and claw our way to victory, and we got an excellent performance from Naumenko. He made the big saves when we needed them, especially in the third period.”
