Cyclones 4, Orlando 3
The Cincinnati Enquirer
ORLANDO, Fla. The Cincinnati Cyclones scored twice in the final seven minutes of Saturday's game at TD Waterhouse Centre and then netted a pair of goals in the shootout for a 4-3 victory over the Orlando Solar Bears in the IHL.
The victory is the second in consecutive games at Orlando and the third time in the last four days the teams went to a shootout to determine the winner. Cyclones right wing Shane Willis' power play goal and center Todd Simon's shorthanded goal with under five minutes to play, extended the club's season-long unbeaten streak to twelve games (9-0-3).
Cincinnati has not lost a game in regulation since Feb. 26 at Grand Rapids.
These guys have a never-say-die attitude and their confidence is really high, Cyclones coach Ron Smith said. It seems like no matter how bleak some game situations may look, they find a way to overcome it and win. It is a real pleasure watching these guys go about their jobs right now.
Goaltender Randy Petruk earned his ninth win.
