Boone County board postpones hearing on medical-waste site

A company that has sought to build a medical-waste treatment facility in Boone County is looking at other property for its business, so a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed.
Sanitec of Kentucky was to go before the Boone County Board of Adjustments for a hearing on a conditional use permit.
Although the company has not withdrawn its request, Bob Jennings, a spokesman for Sanitec, wrote a letter to the planning com mission asking for the delay.
Mr. Jennings said the company's expert witness is not available. “Secondly, we are exploring another option where the location would not fall under the jurisdiction of the board of adjustments,” he said.
It was unclear whether the company is looking within or outside Boone County.
The area south of Florence on East Frogtown Road where the company has considered locating is already zoned Industrial-1.
Sanitec treats waste such as IV bags, needles and soiled clothes.
