Lakota East beats Fairfield in Hamilton's coaching debut

Former Ross coach Ray Hamilton's debut at Lakota East turned out to be a winner. A single by Brandon Hill with two outs in the third inning drove in Mike Rabin with what proved to be the winning run in a 3-1 victory over Fairfield. This was thrill for me and beating such a high caliber team like Fairfield makes it special, said Hamilton, who amassed a 197-64 record at Ross.
Elder 10, Centerville 3 The defending Division I state champion Panthers had 12 hits while senior pitcher Ryan Vanderpool picking up the victory after allowing three runs in the first inning.
Oak Hills 4, La Salle 0 This was billed as a rebuilding season for the Highlanders because of an all junior pitching staff.
However, D.J. Hampton may have changed the outlook, scattering three hits en route to the shutout.
The offense was provided by Doug Dwyer, who delivered two-out RBI singles in both the first and fifth innings while Ross Goodson smacked a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Hamilton 2, Middletown 1 Tom Begley's infield single in the sixth inning drove in Ryan McGuire with the winning run, enabling the Big Blue to avoid the upset.
St. Henry 7, Cincinnati St. Xavier 6 Starting pitcher Tony Rottinghaus didn't pick up the victory, but the St.Henry senior played an important role in the Crusaders' 7-6 victory over Cincinnati St. Xavier.
With Jason Lux on second base with two outs in the sixth inning, Rottinghaus drove in the winning run with a single, finishing a three-run rally.
Dayton 4, Calvary Christian 1 J.D. Williams stuck out a career-best 12 and scattered two hits, enabling the Greendevils to open the season with a victory.
Campbell County 11, Lloyd 3 Rodney Johnston drove in three runs with a home run and double and Kevin Munninghoff drove in four, leading the Camels past the Juggernauts.
Ryle 10, Boone County 9 The Raiders scored eight runs in the third inning, five with two outs, giving the Raiders the victory.
Dustin Margrave's three-run double was the big hit during the rally. Jamie Brown capped off the rally with an RBI single.

Conner 1, Dixie Heights 0 Pitcher Stephanie Brummer's first varsity start was a success.
A 15-year-old freshman, Brummer struck out 10 and scattered two hits to pace the Cougars.
