Refund sought in water deal
Warren County Administrator Bob Price said Tuesday the county will ask Harveysburg to pay back water-reserve money it spent shortly before the county took over the village's water department.
The county was to assume Harveysburg's assets and debts in the deal but learned this week that about 90 percent of the village's $80,000-plus in water-reserve money was spent on a build ing and a truck in mid-1999.
“The building and the truck are assets of the water system,” Mr. Price said, “so they belong to us.”
But rather than taking ownership of them, he said, the county wants to set up a payment plan with Harveysburg to recoup the money.
Harveysburg Mayor Woody Andrew could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
