TRISTATE MARKET SPOTLIGHT


GE gains $7.50 for all-time high

        Shares of General Electric gained $7.50, or 4.8 percent, Wednesday to close at $163.50. Trading as high as $164.87 1/2, the shares hit both all-time closing and intraday highs.

        General Electric — whose GE Aircraft Engines employs about 8,000 people in Evendale — was reiterated “strong buy” by analyst Nicholas P. Heymann at Prudential Securities. The short-term price target was raised to $210 from $185.

        More than 13 million shares changed hands Thursday, compared with the 13-week average daily trading volume of 7.3 million shares.
