MIDDLETOWN A two-alarm fire early Thursday chased 18 people from their four-unit apartment building in the 500 block of Moore Street.
One woman was checked for smoke inhalation at the scene, but declined treatment, the Middletown Fire Department reported.
About 20 Middletown firefighters were called just be fore 2:30 a.m.
It started in the attic, said Middletown Deputy Fire Chief Jim Hall. I would say the only problem was delayed discovery. It was in an unoccupied part of the house.
The blaze was discovered by a Middletown firefighter out on a life squad call.
He noticed smoke in the area and investigated and found the house on fire, Deputy Chief Hall said.
No cause has been determined, Deputy Chief Hall said.
